I am a San Diego–based floral painter whose art brings together the natural beauty of flowers with the rhythm and repetition of textile design. Influenced by my background in textiles, I’m drawn to flowers not only as individual forms, but as patterns- repeating, arranging, and reimagining them through a more realistic lens, I create floral paintings that feels familiar while taking on a character of its own.

My Story
My earliest connection to creativity came through the two women who raised me: my grandma Teresa, who worked at a nursery and shared her love for plants and gardening, and my grandma Flordeliza, whose name means flower and whose natural ability to nurture living things left a lasting impression on me. Through them, I developed an appreciation for femininity, attunement, and the quiet strength behind the things that are nurtured over time. Flowers became more than something beautiful to look at; they became part of the way I understood the world around me.
For more than 15 years, I’ve worked across illustration, print, and design, developing a visual language rooted in florals, pattern, and color. My work has found its way into publications, fashion, and collaborations with brands including ELLE, Cosmopolitan, Latina, Anthropologie, Ed Hardy, National Parks, just to list a few. Working across these different markets has shaped the way I see, interpret, and paint today.
My Art
Now, I’m bringing everything I’ve learned along the way into my own creative practice. This chapter is about giving myself the space to explore the ideas, imagery, and stories that have stayed with me, and allowing them to take shape through work that feels distinctly my own. What began with my grandmothers, continues to find its way into what I make today—a quiet thread connecting where I began with where I’m going.

Named after my initials, Argie (ar-jee) Studios is Located in San Diego’s Barrio Logan Art District, the studio offers a glimpse into my work as it comes together, with the space and works in progress visible from the public corridor.
